Chris Young

Pitching Coach

We are proud to announce Chris Young, current bullpen coach of the Chicago Cubs, as one of the pitching coaches at Action’s Winter Camp!  Young played college baseball for the Mississippi State Bulldogs where he earned Freshman All-American honors.  In 2001, Young was named 2001 SEC Tournament MVP.   In 2002 he was named the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Young was then drafted to the Colorado Rockies in the 18th round in the 2002 Major League Baseball draft.  Young played in Minor League Baseball for six seasons, pitching in as high as Class AAA.

Young then went on to work as a scout for the San Diego Padres from 2010 to 2014 and as a scout and scouting supervisor for the Houston Astros from 2015 through 2017.  From there Young was hired by the Phillies as an assistant pitching coach for their major league roster.  In 2019 he was promoted to pitching coach.  From November 2019 to present, Young has been the bullpen coach for the Chicago Cubs.

Young also coaches one of the Action Youth teams, and his son currently plays for Action Baseball Club.
